double chin fat dissolving injections

Double Chin Treatment

Fullness on the double chin can adds years to anyone’s face. Thanks to brilliant new cosmetic medicine, fat deposits in your neck and jawline can permanently be eliminated, creating a cleaner, more youthful contour and silhouette for the rest of your life.

Double chin fat dissolving treatment is used to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe submental fat ('double chin'; fatty tissue located under the chin). Deoxycholic acid injection is in a class of medications called cytolytic medications. It works by breaking down cells in fatty tissue.

Deoxycholic acid is a secondary bile acid produced by intestinal bacteria. When injected into subcutaneous fat, deoxycholic acid destroys adipocytes (fat cells). The inflammatory tissue reaction leads to a reduction in fat and minimal scarring.

Generally, double chin fat dissolving injections are suitable for patients looking for a non-surgical alternative to liposuction, or for patients with smaller amounts of submental fat and minimal skin laxity. Double chin fat dissolving injections are a permanent treatment.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?

Safe & Effective Fat Dissolving Treatment

A double chin, also known as submental fat, is a common condition that occurs when a layer of fat forms below your chin. A double chin is often associated with weight gain, but you don't have to be overweight to have one. Genetics or looser skin resulting from aging may also cause a double chin.

If your double chin is due to weight gain, losing weight may make it smaller or get rid of it. The best way to lose weight is to eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly. If your double chin is caused by genetics, tightening up the area with exercise may help. If minimal results are seen with diet and exercise, double chin fat dissolving injections may be the answer for you.

Treatment is performed via injections into the subcutaneous fat tissue in the submental (double chin) area. Topical and local anaesthetic will be provided prior to treatment. Full results can be expected between 4 to 6 single treatments administered at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks. Patience is key.

Side effects include but are not limited to pain, bleeding, swelling, warmth, numbness, or bruising in the place where you received the injection.  Avoid rigorous exercise and any important events/functions directly after treatment. Swelling will take up to 2 weeks to settle. Increase water intake is encouraged after treatment.

A careful clinical evaluation and consultation to exclude other causes of submental convexity/fullness (eg, enlarged thyroid, cervical lymphadenopathy) is mandatory prior to treatment.

All cosmetic treatments carry risks. Side effects, complication and risks will be discuss prior to the commencement of treatment.
